Tech Assessment and AI Roadmap

Brief

Following the success of our AI for Leaders workshop with Glass Co Metro, we partnered with their leadership team to turn the identified opportunities into a practical, organisation-wide AI roadmap. Through a structured tech assessment process, we narrowed more than 20 ideas down to seven high-value use cases and mapped the technical requirements, feasibility and ROI for each. The outcome was a clear, board-ready roadmap that gave GCM confidence in how to adopt AI in a way that aligns with their mission and operational priorities.

Problem

Glass Co Metro had uncovered a wide range of AI opportunities during the initial workshop, but needed a structured and evidence-based way to determine which ideas were worth investing in. Leadership required clarity on feasibility, cost, ROI, timeframes and operational impact before committing to development. Without a detailed technical assessment, there was a risk of pursuing use cases that were hard to implement, misaligned with strategy or not capable of delivering meaningful operational benefit.

Solution

We delivered a full tech assessment and AI roadmap for seven priority use cases:

  • GCM AI Hub
  • Inbox Agent Builder for call-ups
  • Receiving AI Agent
  • Inbox PO Confirmation Agent
  • Stocktake Computer Vision
  • Extrusion Stock Adjustment Support
  • Inbox Agent for Fitter Measure Packs

Working closely with leadership and department heads, we mapped each process end-to-end to understand how staff currently work and how an AI system would integrate into their workflow. For every use case, we assessed:

  • Technical feasibility
  • High-level system design and requirements
  • Development cost and delivery timeline
  • Expected value, time savings and efficiency gains
  • ROI and payback period This deep review allowed us to validate each idea, highlight any constraints and give GCM a reliable foundation to make investment decisions. All findings were compiled into a board-ready roadmap summarising value, cost, benefit, risk and implementation priority.

Result

The roadmap provided GCM with a clear, strategic path for AI adoption, enabling the leadership team to confidently prioritise investment. Two of the recommended use cases were selected and successfully developed within just two months. These AI systems have already delivered an estimated $100k+ in value, driven by significant time savings, efficiency improvements and reduced manual errors. The rapid payback reinforced that the roadmap was accurate, practical and aligned with GCM’s operational reality. GCM now has both a validated pipeline of future AI opportunities and a proven model for implementing them with confidence.
